About me
My name is Sander Sneekes, a Cloud Native Engineer and DevOps professional from Almere. My fascination with technology began in 1983 when I first laid my hands on a Commodore 64, and later the 128D. These machines introduced me to programming in BASIC, sparking a lifelong passion for understanding and working with technology. As the years progressed, I transitioned into working with i386 systems, delving into DOS, early Windows versions, and eventually exploring Linux. By the late 90s, I had become a self-taught expert in troubleshooting, building systems, and exploring early networking technologies.
In 1999, I officially entered the IT industry, where I took on various roles that allowed me to develop a well-rounded skill set. Over the years, I worked in systems engineering, consultancy, and security, constantly evolving with the rapid pace of technological advancements. My career path has been defined by versatility, continuous learning, and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
Throughout the 2000s, 2010s, and early 2020s, I broadened my expertise by working in several positions across diverse domains, including systems engineering, infrastructure management, and cloud-native technologies. During this time, I also gained five years of experience in software development, which enriched my understanding of application development and how it integrates with modern IT infrastructures.
Currently, I am deeply focused on AI, LLMs (Large Language Models), vector databases, and automation tools like n8n. At home, I run a 5-node Talos cluster, which allows me to experiment with cutting-edge technologies and solutions. Additionally, I leverage platforms like RunPod for scalable, cloud-based computing resources to further my projects and stay ahead in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. This hands-on approach complements my professional expertise in Kubernetes, Talos, and automation tools such as ArgoCD.
Outside of work, I am happily married since 2014 and the proud owner of a lively Beagle named Maya. Together with my wife and Maya, I love traveling across Europe in our self-built campervan, which we completed in 2021. I value personal growth, health, and well-being and aim to live each day to its fullest, cherishing relationships and embracing new experiences.
